How to use these pages
- Print the page on plain paper. The picture and its color key fit on one sheet.
- Match crayons to the key. Each number has a color and a name, such as “4 · Red”. Lay the crayons out in number order first, which helps younger kids.
- Color every space with its number’s color. Big spaces first, small details last.
- Check with the answer key. It shows the finished picture, so kids can check their own work.
Color by number builds number recognition, color matching and fine-motor control, and it’s calm enough for indoor recess, early finishers or a restaurant table.
Questions
Are these color by number pages free?
Yes. Every page is free to print and photocopy for home and classroom use, and you don’t need to sign up for anything.
How do I print a color by number page?
Press Print on any picture. Each page fits on one US Letter sheet (it also fits A4), with the numbered picture at the top and the color key underneath. Crayons, colored pencils and markers all work. The key names each color so it’s easy to match it to the box.
What is the answer key for?
The answer key is the finished, colored picture. Kids can check their own work, and teachers can mark a stack of pages at a glance. Press Key on any picture to open it.
Which level should I choose?
Easy pages have 22 spaces or fewer, about right for preschool and kindergarten. Medium pages have 23 to 60 spaces, for early grade school. Detailed pages have more than 60 small spaces and 14 or more colors, for older kids and adults.
Can I color these pages online?
Yes. Press Play, pick a number from the palette and tap the matching spaces. Choose the wrong color and the right paint pot hops to show you. Your progress saves in the browser, and it works on Chromebooks, tablets and phones.
